If you're into pro video and audio, you've probably made the pilgrimage to MediaTech before. The event, held every two years, showcases the latest professional equipment on offer in the professional and broadcast AV world. This year the event was held in the Coca-Cola Dome.

The highlight for me was meeting Avid Application Specialist Oystein Riise Naess all the way from Dubai. Oystein really knows his way around Avid Media Composer and he was kind enough to show me around a few of the hidden features of Media Composer 5. It was really cool to speak to someone who is close to Avid's inner development circle.

I also drooled over what I firmly believe is my next camera. Panasonic just added the AJ-HPX3100GJ to it's data card P2HD range and it is very attractively priced for it's size and features. Video tape is dead and so are the days of large format tape cameras. My attraction to the HPX3100, other than the price, are the optics and the shoulder camera format which I practically grew up with. I purchased an HPX174 small format camera in March 2011 and it's great, but the HPX3100 will make a perfect companion for high-end projects.

Now when's the next doccie project...;)
