Loaded Gun music video to launch officially on the 30th April

Posted by Corne Scheepers on Tuesday, April 19, 2011,

All the work has been done and now it's time to celebrate!

It's official, Lloyd & Bruno will be launching "Loaded Gun", the theme song of the documentary "Finding the fable" on 30th April at the Barnyard Theatre in Vereeniging. Bookings are now open. Miss this and you'll miss the party of the century. And you'll also be a very dull, uninteresting person. So rather be there. It's better that way. Really.

Check out their Facebook page for details

L&B music video to be shown at United Nations conference in Switzerland

Posted by Corne Scheepers on Wednesday, April 13, 2011,

The Lloyd & Bruno music video Loaded Gun will be showing outside the borders of SA soon. And very fittingly at the United Nations' Global Platform on Disaster Risk Reduction conference to be held in Geneva, Switzerland from 10 - 13 May this year.

Loaded Gun is the theme song of the documentary film project Finding the fable that was commisioned last year by the NWU's African Centre for Disaster Studies and funded by the US Agency for International Development (USAID). The music video includes...

Give your camera the beans!

Posted by Corne Scheepers on Wednesday, April 13, 2011,

Stable camera support is the difference between shooting footage that you can ultimately sell to a client, or footage that looks like you gave the camera to the assistant's kid brother while you had to visit the loo between takes. Seriously, if you're not filming skateboarding or a firefight in Afghanistan, put the camera on something stable and save the editor hours of pain!

I had a nice home-made bean bag that I managed to lose on the very first day of filming on the documentary project las...

Workflow: getting JVC Everio MOD files into Media Composer

Posted by Corne Scheepers on Saturday, April 9, 2011,

Yesterday a client brought in footage he shot with a small JVC Everio HDD camera for editing. While this compact little camcorder does rate high in the compactness category, it does present problems when you've shot footage that needs to be edited later. Reason? Well it records SD video files to the internal hard drive as .MOD files. Really JVC, what were you thinking!? While the .MOD clips can be viewed in Media Player on a Windows system, you'll have a hard time importing these files straig...

Store it!

Posted by Corne Scheepers on Monday, April 4, 2011,

There are three shortages that could potentially cripple the modern world, I think. Water, oil, and computer storage. Yes, those little boxes and pocket drives that fit in your laptop bag and stand on your desk with a mass of cables hanging off of them. If you're into video production in this modern age, you'll consume storage at a phenomenal rate because let's face it - tape died along with CRT monitors and non-touch screen cellphones.

And if you work in HD with a data format, storage consum...

LowePro Magnum DV6500 camera bag

Posted by Corne Scheepers on Friday, April 1, 2011,

I've been looking for a good quality camera bag for a long time now and I finally found one! The LowePro Magnum DV6500 is big as camera bags go but it is perfectly suited to what I need to do. LowePro made these for shooters who need to live out their bags.

Even though I use a small(ish) format camera, I always have a long rifle microphone and windshield attached that I'd prefer not to have to remove for transport. With this bag there's more than enough space for everything, including extra s...
